Lymphatic drainage

Lymphatic drainage is an irreplaceable therapeutic procedure for stimulating lymph circulation, improving venous circulation and detoxifying the body, contributes to better nutrition and regeneration of tissues, removal of excess fluids and strengthening of the immune system.

The role of the lymphatic system is to collect excess fluid from the tissues, purify it and return it to the bloodstream. Мany substances continuously leak from the blood through the capillaries into the surrounding tissues, when the lymphatic system fails to wash away the excess fluids, they accumulate, cause swelling and potentially increase the risk of infection. Lymph is a colorless liquid composed of white blood cells (leukocytes) and plasma, it arises as a product of cellular metabolism, it is transferred to the bloodstream through lymphatic vessels and lymph glands, from where harmful products are excreted with urine by filtration in the kidney.

Lymphatic drainage accelerates the flow of lymph through the lymphatic system, removes toxins and waste materials, reduces edema. Lymphatic vessels use the energy of muscle contraction as a pressure force to move lymph towards the heart. Every day, during prolonged sitting and standing, small lymph stagnations occur, larger lymph stagnations happen in certain diseases when lymphedema appear.

Lymphatic drainage is based on the anatomy of the lymphatic system, its role is to reduce lymphedema by diverting fluid from areas where swelling is present, to functional lymph nodes. The lymphatic drainage device works by pumping air with variable pressure intensity into suit (in a form of trousers оr sleeve) which is made up of numerous chambers. Intermittent ventricular pressure during drainage stimulates blood and lymph flow resulting in influx of nutrients and elimination of fluids and metabolic wastes.

Compressive lymphatic drainage in medicine is used for the treatment of lymphedema that occurs after oncological disease (after a mastectomy or radiotherapy), chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins, carpal tunnel syndrome, Raynaud syndrome, neuropathies, neuralgias, diabetic angiopathy, algodystrophic syndrome, arthrosis, postoperative edema, post-traumatic edema, hematomas, distortions, dislocations, muscle rupture, chronic edema, treatment of scars that compromise lymphatic circulation (after burns), excessive weight. In cosmetics it is used as an anti-cellulite therapy. It is also used for prevention of heavy and tired legs, swollen feet and varicose veins, prevention of venous thrombosis, drainage of extremities after extreme physical training, relaxing massage.

The treatment for the patients is comfortable and pleasant, after the therapy they feel relief in the treated region.
