Thermotherapy
Thermotherapy is a physical procedure in which heat is applied to warm individual parts of the body. Used to increase circulation, reduce pain, increase local metabolism and reduce muscle tension. It is also used as an introduction to kinesitherapy, it increases the elasticity of collagen fibers and thus facilitates increase in the range of motion and reduction of contractures in the joints.
The depth of tissue heating depends on the method of application, when hot packs, paraffin, infrared lamp and bioptron lamp are used, the local temperature increase is achieved only in the surface tissues. Heating of the deeper tissues is achieved with the help of ultrasound and tecar therapy.
