Kinesitherapy
Kinesitherapy is an integral part of physical therapy and medical rehabilitation that approach the application of movement in the healing process. It is based on exercises that are individually adapted to increase strength, endurance and mobility, creating a correct pattern of movement in patients with functional limitation.
Exercises can be active – when the patient independently and voluntarily contracts the muscles, and passive – when the patient cannot independently perform the movement. An important segment of kinesitherapy are stretching exercises that relax muscles while simultaneously increasing vascularization. Another important segment of this type of therapy is strength exercises which can be isodynamic – joint movement with muscle contraction, isometric – muscle contraction without joint movement and isokinetic – muscle contraction against great resistance.
Kinesitherapy works to strengthen and increase muscle elasticity, preserve and restore normal mobility in the joints, improve circulation, preserve and restore coordination, improve the function of the respiratory organs and the cardiovascular system, as well as improve general physical condition.
